In Remembrance: Monroe Heidecorn ’44 Died on April 6 2018

Monroe Heidecorn ’44S (TC) died peacefully at home on April 6, 2018. A native of Mt. Vernon, New York, and a graduate of AB Davis High School, Monroe entered Yale at 17, enrolled in ROTC, and and served two rotations in Europe.  After returning home, he assumed ownership of his family's retail shoe business in Mount Vernon and expanded it to include five additional stores in Westchester County.  

A lifelong resident of Westchester, Monroe was an inspiration to his three children (including Gail Heidecorn Kedrus ’74 ES), six grandchildren and their spouses, and three great-grandchildren, instilling in them the importance of hard work, education, and integrity.
