Yale finalists in MoMa competition

Three of the five finalists in the 2018 MoMA PS1 Young Architects Program have ties to the Yale School of Architecture:  alumni Jennifer Newsom ’01, ’05MArch, and Tom Carruthers ’05MArch, cofounders of Minneapolis-based architecture practice Dream the Combine; faculty member Brennan Buck of FreelandBuck; and Jesse LeCavalier of LeCavalier R+D, who joins the faculty this semester as the Daniel Rose Visiting Assistant Professor in Urban Studies. Each year, the Museum of Modern Art and its affiliate MoMA PS1 offer this competition to young architecture firms who are nominated by scholars, professionals, and previous winners. A panel reviews the nominees’ portfolios and chooses five finalists, who then submit a proposal for an outdoor installation to be constructed at MoMA PS1 this coming summer. The winner will be announced in early 2018. Last year’s finalists included faculty member Rosalyne Shieh of Schaum/Shieh.
