Celebrating a professor's legacy

The School of Architecture community gathered on October 2 to mark the opening of the 2022 Jim Vlock First Year Building Project and to celebrate the teaching legacy of Paul Brouard ’61MArch (1929–2022). Brouard led first-year master’s students through the process of creating structures for New Haven communities for over 40 years. Alumni, family, and friends of Brouard have created a fellowship in his honor to allow a student to work on the building project full-time over the summer each year. This year’s project is an accessory dwelling unit for one family, located behind the 2019 house; both were designed for Columbus House, a New Haven–based organization dedicated to ending homelessness.

New faculty

The Yale School of Architecture is delighted to announce the appointment of two tenure-track faculty members. Anthony Acciavatti has been appointed the inaugural Diana Balmori Assistant Professor after a three-year term as Daniel Rose (1951) Visiting Assistant Professor at the school. His courses have included seminars on environmental history and history of science. Mae-ling Lokko joins Yale as an assistant professor from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where she served as the director of the Building Sciences Program as well as assistant professor at the School of Architecture and Center for Architecture, Science, and Ecology.
