YSN vaults in US News & World Report rankings
US News & World Report has ranked Yale School of Nursing one of the nation’s leading nursing schools. YSN is now at number 6 in overall rankings, representing a 13-place jump over last year. It is ranked number 8 in its Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, a remarkable accomplishment after having graduated only two cohorts.
“We’re very pleased that US News has recognized the excellence towards which we continually strive,” said YSN’s dean Ann Kurth. “We have a superb community of faculty clinicians, scientists, and educators here and we attribute our ascension in the rankings to their robust research and the sustained excellence of our entering classes.” YSN also remains one of the most selective graduate nursing programs in the country.
NLM director sees the future in data
Patricia Flatley Brennan, director of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) and the first nurse to lead the NLM, was the inaugural lecturer of the Dean’s Speaker Series at YSN. She opened her remarks with a simple message: that the NLM is “not your mother’s library anymore.” Libraries, once a static archive of global knowledge, long ago evolved beyond dusty stacks into the digital age. The newly appointed director of the National Library of Medicine sees a more engaged future for libraries as epicenters for data-driven scientific discovery.
Early scholarship and diversity summer program
Jacqueline Taylor, the associate dean for diversity and inclusion at YSN, is leading a summer institute on Yale’s West Campus with visiting early-career scholars selected nationally. Earlier this year, Taylor was herself awarded a prestigious early-career award, the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE).
