Yale president visits YSN on Yale Founder’s Day

The School of Nursing was honored to host President Peter Salovey on Yale’s Founders Day on October 11. A strong advocate for the nursing profession, he thanked the YSN community for educating the next generation to do such critical work.

Celebrating the tenth anniversary of West Campus

On October 26, members of the Nursing School joined with others from around the university in a daylong symposium and reception to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Yale’s West Campus. Dean Ann Kurth spoke about the importance and impact of nursing science, highlighting the current scientific research of multiple YSN faculty. Dr. Jacquelyn Taylor, professor of nursing and associate dean of diversity and inclusion, spoke about her genetic research on addressing health disparities in hypertension among African Americans and West Africans. In his introduction, Vice President Scott Strobel commented, “West Campus reached its tipping point on the day that the School of Nursing arrived on West Campus in 2013. We almost doubled our population. That was the day when West Campus was clearly going to work.”

Honors and awards for YSN faculty

Laura Andrews, associate professor of nursing and adult/gerontology acute care nurse practitioner coordinator, received the Florence S.
