The future of public health
At the 2026 YSPH State of the School event in September, Dean Megan Ranney reflected on the school’s progress and priorities for the year ahead, drawing on the legacy of Frederick Law Olmsted to capture the spirit of planting for a future we may not fully see. Community members took the stage alongside school leadership to share stories of real impact in New Haven and beyond. In addition to the announcement of YSPH’s new building, a significant milestone, the evening included updates on research, faculty and staff, and the school’s work in the community.
Real-time public health data, on the world stage
PopHIVE, YSPH’s free public health data platform, was featured at the Clinton Global Initiative this year, bringing real-time, community-level health data to one of the world’s most prominent gatherings of leaders committed to solving global challenges. Built to put public health data directly in the hands of communities, researchers, and policymakers, PopHIVE is changing how we monitor and respond to what is happening in communities in real time. Its presence at CGI reflects a core YSPH belief: that data is only powerful when it reaches the people who need it most. Find it at pophive.org.
Measuring trust in public health
At a moment when confidence in science and public health institutions is under pressure, YSPH and the Edelman Trust Institute released a special analysis examining trust in public health: what has eroded, where the gaps are, and what the data tells us about the path forward. The report draws on Edelman’s global Trust Barometer Special Report and YSPH’s public health research to offer a clear picture of where the field stands with the public it serves.
