Four named Hayden Fellows

During the 2017–18 academic year, the Yale School of Art will welcome four Hayden Distinguished Fellows to campus: Carol Bove, artist; Richard Hawkins, artist; Peter Osborne, philosopher, art theorist, and critic; and Hito Steyerl, filmmaker and writer.

This new fellowship, generously made possible by the Hayden Fund for Art and Ideas, will bring globally recognized leaders in art and the academy to Yale to work with students as teachers, mentors, and critics. The fellows’ engagement will strengthen a critical link between the Yale School of Art and the international artistic community, as fellows give public lectures, teach classes, and participate in studio visits and critiques.

Lectures feature artists and academics

Throughout each semester the Yale School of Art invites artists, critics, academics, and cultural practitioners to speak about a wide variety of topics and to conduct studio visits with our graduate students. All lectures are free and open to the public.

This fall, the series has included lectures by author and curator Darby English, scholar in aesthetics and contemporary art practice Peter Osborne, film director and independent curator of archives and exhibitions Ariella Azoulay, Yale’s Frederick Iseman Professor of Poetry Claudia Rankine, and UC-Berkeley’s Associate Vice Chancellor for the Arts + Design, Shannon Jackson. Additional lectures and events will be announced later this autumn
