Alum awarded prize for innovation

Jonathan Rajewski ’21MFA has been named a recipient of the 2025 JMK Innovation Prize from the J. M. Kaplan Fund. The prize provides early-stage support for entrepreneurs with twenty-first-century solutions to urgent social challenges. It includes a cash award and access to strategic counsel, peer learning, and convenings with other innovators.

As the artistic director of the Entry Points artists’ and writers’ residency in Detroit, Rajewski works to provide reentry support to returning citizens sentenced as juveniles, and expands on work he did with his critical practice research grant from former dean Marta Kuzma in 2020. The program covers housing costs and utilities for residents, provides an honorarium to cover studio materials, and offers opportunities to publicly present or publish work. The Entry Points website was developed by Bianca Ibarlucea ’21MFA, a lecturer in graphic design.

More alumni recognition

Hyeree Ro ’21MFA has been selected as one of the two main artists for the Korean Pavilion at the 61st International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale in 2026, curated by Binna Choi.

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts named Shikeith ’18MFA as one of the two winners of the first annual VMFA Aaron Siskind Award for Photography. The unrestricted $25,000 prize is intended to support the artist’s ongoing creative work.
