Center will foster innovation on campus

A major donation by the Joe and Clara Tsai Foundation will support the construction, launch, and programs of the Tsai Center for Innovative Thinking at Yale (Tsai CITY). Tsai CITY will draw existing university resources into closer partnership with each other; complement curricular programs; and provide a venue for students to develop innovation. The center’s programming will include workshops, mentorship programs, cocurricular projects, hackathons, and visiting lecturers and alumni from a wide range of fields. The center is slated for completion in late 2019.

Coat of arms for Grace Hopper College the work of three alumni

The Grace Hopper coat of arms, presented in May to the Calhoun/Hopper community, was created by three alumni. John Gambell ’81MFA, Yale university printer, led the project to design the new coat of arms. Stephen Scher ’56 (TD), ’66PhD (history of art), recipient of the Yale Medal in 2015, developed the college’s shield. Jonathan Corum ’95 (CC/GH; art and East Asian studies) produced the final artwork. Learn more and see an image of the new shield.
