Three named Schwarzman Scholars

Yale student Aleena Gul ’26 and alums Pranav Pattatathunaduvil ’25 and Jordan Van Doren ’25 have been selected as 2026–27 Schwarzman Scholars, joining 150 fellows chosen from more than 5,800 applicants worldwide. Gul, a Yale College senior from Pakistan and the US, focuses on international development and migration; she cofounded the Ivy Future of Pakistan Conference and leads several campus organizations. Pattatathunaduvil, an MPP student, works at the intersection of technology and foreign policy and cofounded the GeoTech Initiative. Van Doren, a global affairs graduate, has led legal aid work and research on Sino-Caribbean development finance and aspires to support infrastructure development in the region.

Authors discuss writing and resilience

Yale Schwarzman Center hosted a November 5 conversation between writers Zibby Owens ’98 and Allison Pataki ’07, sparked by Owens’s admiration for Pataki’s recent memoir. The two spoke candidly about the role of writing in navigating life’s challenges—Pataki through letters written during her husband’s recovery from a stroke, and Owens through personal essays on motherhood and work. Owens is a writer, podcaster, and publisher; Pataki is an author of adult fiction, memoir, and children’s books.
