Happy Days on the West Coast
Yale Repertory Theatre’s acclaimed production of Happy Days by Samuel Beckett, featuring two-time Academy Award winner Dianne Wiest as the indomitable Winnie and staged by Dean/Artistic Director James Bundy ’95MFA, recently had its West Coast premiere at Center Theatre Group’s Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. The production was performed previously in New York at Theatre for a New Audience in 2017, following the original 2016 run at Yale; it will next be seen at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in Berkeley, California, in May 2020. The production went viral earlier this year, when Wiest performed monologues from the play in a site-specific art installation in Madison Square Park.
