Residential living returns with opening of Baker Hall
August saw the opening of Baker Hall and with it, the return of residential living to the Law School. The project, which broke ground in 2017, will add more than 137,000 square feet to the school’s campus and is the first physical expansion since the completion of the iconic Sterling Law Building in 1931. The completion of Baker Hall, located at the corner of Tower Parkway and Ashmun Street, transforms an existing building into study spaces, lounges, and one- and two-bedroom suites. In addition, there is a two-story lecture hall, which will hold nearly 60 people, and six additional classrooms, which each hold 12 to 25 students. Law School alumni returning to campus for Alumni Weekend October 19–21 will have the opportunity to tour the new facility. The Law School raised more than $60 million for the renovation, led by a $25 million gift by Christina and Robert C. Baker ’56, ’59LLB, for whom the building is named.
