Global Business and Society students join SOM community

The 32-member inaugural class in the new Master of Management Studies in Global Business and Society (GBS) program arrived on campus this fall. The GBS program gives students the tools and broad perspective needed to thrive in global organizations. The program is open to students in Master of Advanced Management programs at schools in the Global Network for Advanced Management.

The GBS students are among the 531 new master’s degree students across five programs that Yale SOM welcomed this fall. The number includes 71 members of the MBA for Executives class of 2020; 347 members of the full-time MBA class of 2020; and 11 members of the Master of Management Studies in Systemic Risk class of 2019, along with 70 students in the Master of Advanced Management class of 2019.

In addition, SOM welcomed 14 new students to its doctoral programs in accounting, financial economics, marketing, operations, and organizations and management.

New fellowship trains leaders in minority health

With financial support from the Commonwealth Fund, the Yale School of Management will launch a program to give health-care practitioners the leadership skills and the deep understanding of markets, organizations, and governments needed to tackle inequities in the US health-care system.

The program, called the Commonwealth Fund Fellowship in Minority Health Leadership at Yale University, will fully fund three fellows per year, who will complete the MBA for Executives degree program with a focus on health care while also receiving specialized training and mentoring from experts in health-care disparities from across the university and beyond.

The first fellows will begin the 22-month MBA for Executives programs in July 2019. Applications are being accepted beginning this fall.
