Popular course brings global business challenges into the classroom
Students in Professor Jeffrey Sonnenfeld’s long-running elective course Strategic Leadership across Sectors, looked at the Russian invasion of Ukraine through a business lens this year, asking how business could address the crisis.
The course takes a cross-sector view of corporate leaders and the impact their decisions have on business and society. Following the Ukrainian invasion, several students joined Sonnenfeld in compiling a much-publicized and influential list showing which companies had curtailed their dealings in Russia. All spring, the list generated massive amounts of media interest.

About 50 PhD students attended the 2022 Yale Summer School in Behavioral Finance from June 13 to 17. The one-week program is an intensive course in behavioral finance led by Yale SOM faculty members who are leading practitioners in this growing field. “This is the seventh summer school we’ve held, and we’re delighted that it’s become a marquee event in the academic finance world,” said organizer Nicholas Barberis, the Stephen and Camille Schramm Professor of Finance.
