Nonprofit Board Fellows program to expand
With generous support from Golub Capital, Yale SOM will expand and strengthen its Nonprofit Board Fellows program, which provides training and other support for business students to serve as nonvoting members on the boards of nonprofit organizations in the New Haven area.
SOM’s program will join similar programs from six other business schools as part of the Golub Capital Nonprofit Board Fellows Network. David Golub, president of Golub Capital, said that the firm established the network to maximize positive impact. The gift will help provide greater resources and institutional support to students serving on boards in and around New Haven.
Seminar connects education scholars with public school leaders
The inaugural Broad Seminar launched in October with a talk by Dan Goldhaber, director of the Center for Analysis of Longitudinal Data in Education Research at the University of Washington, on strategies for identifying and hiring high-quality teachers. Hosted by the Broad Center at Yale SOM in partnership with the dean’s office, the new annual event will bring distinguished education scholars to campus to discuss their work.
The Broad Center at Yale SOM fosters the ideas, collaboration, and leadership to help all students—particularly those from underserved communities—learn and thrive. The center supports leaders in large, urban public schoolsystems through its signature leadership development programs: the master’s in public education management and the fellowship in public education leadership.
