Light & VerityEli alums vie for Congressional seatsAt press time, it seemed likely that for the first time since 1968, there will be no Yale graduate running for president or vice president in this year's election. But the Yale caucus in the 111th Congress might see some new faces. In Nebraska, Democrat Scott Kleeb ’06PhD, a ranch manager, is running for a vacant Senate seat against former Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns. In New Jersey, Republican former congressman Dick Zimmer ’66, ’69LLB, is trying to unseat Democratic Senator Frank Lautenberg. And in Virginia, Tom Perriello ’96, ’01JD, a former adviser to international prosecutors in Africa, is running against Republican incumbent Virgil Goode in the 5th House District. There are eight Eli senators and ten representatives in the current Congress.
