About a thousand students joined the unauthorized game, lofting the ball around the campus and tying up traffic on Elm Street along the way. Many students saw it as all in good fun, but in the aftermath, all of the residential college masters and deans signed a letter to the Yale Daily News denouncing the game as dangerous.
