At 69, Steve Gladstone is the most decorated college crew coach alive, having won eight national championships at Brown and California. Gladstone came to Yale this fall to be the new coach of the men's heavyweight crew. The crew started strong by winning the Head of the Housatonic at Derby on October 9.

Seo Hee Moon '14 set a new women's course record at the Yale Golf Course in September, shooting a 67 in her first competitive match on the course. Moon led the women's team to wins in the first two matches of the season. (The Yale course itself waschosen as the best college course in the country by Golfweek in September.)

The men's hockey team is the favorite to win its third straight ECAC conference championship, according to preseason polls. College Hockey Newsranked the team fifth in the nation in its preseason poll.
