Most of Yale’s campus shuttles are adorned with a larger-than-life bulldog, but those that run between the main campus and the West Campus are specially marked with a canine cowboy.

Administrators seem fond of the western metaphor: President Richard Levin ’74PhD has likened the acquisition of the campus to the Louisiana Purchase, and the few employees working there have formed a “Pioneer Council.” If budgets permitted, they might import buffalo.
