Light & VerityApple picking timeThe Apple Store comes to the Elm City. Mark Zurolo ’01MFAView full imageFans of Apple Computer products are known for a near-cultlike devotion, and the company’s minimalist Apple Stores are as much shrines as they are retail outlets, so the buzz was high as the company opened a store on Broadway in New Haven on September 24. (Mac users previously had to travel to Stamford or Farmington, Connecticut, to visit an Apple “genius bar.”) The opening was also seen as good news by area merchants, who hope the store will draw more foot traffic to Broadway. The $4.8 million store was built on a site formerly occupied by the eastern portion of the Yale Bookstore (or, for you twentieth-century types, the Yale Co-op).
