On May 12, some 3,500 Yale alumni volunteered at 245 projects around the world for the fourth annual Yale Day of Service. At least one of those projects involved a rescue operation: as seen here, volunteers from the Yale Club of Hawaii plucked crabs, shrimp, and fish from invasive seaweed that they had cleared from a pond on Mokauea Island. The photo, by Lee Kiang ’01, is this year’s winner in our Day of Service Photo Contest. For pictures from other Day of Service sites, go to http://tinyurl.com/dayofservice2012.
