A Yale freshman who committed suicide on April 18 was remembered by Davenport College master Richard Schottenfeld ’71, ’76MD, as “a vibrant and visible part of the Davenport-Yale community.” Zachary Brunt ’15, a freshman from Alexandria, Virginia, was remembered by friends for his “glowing personality” and wide-ranging interests.

The Yale community mourned again when Marina Keegan ’12 died in a car accident in Massachusetts on May 26, just five days after graduating from Yale College. Keegan, a writer and campus activist, was to start a job as an assistant at the New Yorker in June. After her death, a commencement column she wrote for the Yale Daily News was circulated widely on the Internet. “What we have to remember is that we can still do anything,” she wrote. “We’re so young.”

Yale–New Haven Hospital will acquire the Hospital of Saint Raphael in New Haven this summer if a state health care agency approves the deal. Together, the two hospitals have 1,477 beds and 12,000 employees. Yale–New Haven, which is separate from Yale University but affiliated with the medical school, will operate Saint Raphael as a separate campus.
