Any donor who had made Yale as rich as has Chief Investment Officer David Swensen ’80PhD (left) would surely have something named for him or her by now. Swensen has run the university’s endowment in the last 30 years as it grew from $1.3 billion to $23.9 billion. So, when Lisbet Rausing and Peter Baldwin ’78 gave $25 million to help fund the restoration of the Hall of Graduate Studies, they asked that the building’s 14-story tower be named David Swensen Tower (also at left, though not at actual scale). Yale “very gladly agreed,” President Peter Salovey ’86PhD said in a university statement.
