There was little for Yale to cheer about at this year’s football game with Harvard. (See page 60.) But the 51,000 fans present at the Yale Bowl on November 21 got an unprecedented treat: watching football under lights as the sun set on the Bowl. An unusually late 2:30 p.m. kickoff—chosen to accommodate the NBC Sports Network schedule—meant The Game would still be going after dark, so temporary lights were brought in for the occasion. An unintended but probably welcome consequence of the start time: tailgates started at 11:00 instead of 8:30 in the morning.
