For decades, Woolsey Hall—echoing, overscheduled Woolsey Hall—was the premier rehearsal space for Yale’s large ensembles. That’s because it was virtually the only rehearsal space. Now, we’re in a new era.

Yale’s recently opened Adams Center for Musical Arts, which includes Hendrie Hall and Leigh Hall, offers renovated meeting and practice spaces for students all over the university who are involved in music. Here, in the brand-new 30,000-square-foot rehearsal hall linking Hendrie and Leigh, the Yale Philharmonia hits a fortissimo in Brahms’s Fourth Symphony. The new hall, says principal conductor Peter Oundjian (at podium), will be a “tremendous joy.”
