Grand slam for Yale pianists

School of Music alum and students sweep a competition.

Since 1956, the Musicians Club of New York has helped identify up-and-coming artists with its Serge and Olga Koussevitzky Young Artist Awards competition. The program focuses on different instruments each year, and this year’s competition proved fruitful for Yale School of Music pianists. All four winners were past or present Yale students: Sun-A Park ’16ArtA, ’17MusAM, first place; Sophiko Simsive ’18MusM, second place; Wenting Shi ’19MusAM, third place; and Christopher Goodpasture ’18MusAM, fourth place. Besides receiving a monetary award, the winners will perform in the club’s concert series.
