That’s the most Yale has raised in a single year except for the $861.9 million in 2010–11, the final year of a capital campaign. The 2018–19 figure includes $662.8 million in cash gifts, a new single-year record. The Yale Alumni Fund also set a single-year record, with $42.9 million in annual giving. More than 46,000 people and entities made gifts to the university. It was the third year of the school’s collaboration with Columbus House, a nonprofit that provides services for people coping with homelessness. For 52 years, first-year students have designed and built a project as part of what is now called the Jim Vlock First-Year Building Project. Since 1989, houses have been the subject of the program, and students have built housing for more than 50 New Haven families.
