Ten years ago, we published a chart featuring some oft-sought statistics about Yale undergraduates in the classes of 2011–2014. We’re comparing those numbers here with those for the classes of 2021–2024—the first four classes following the expansion of Yale College. A few notes: Pell Grants are federal aid to students from low-income families, and “underrepresented minorities”—a widely used term in academia—here (and generally) includes those who identify themselves as Hispanic, African American, American Indian or Alaskan Native, Pacific Islander, or of two or more races. We’ve also added the percentage of students who are in the first generation to go to college, a number of increased interest to the admissions office in recent years.
