Seventeen Yale students and alumni competed in the Olympic Games in Tokyo in July and August—and three of them came home with medals. Dan Williamson ’23 (left) rowed for the New Zealand team that won the men’s eight race, and Ollie Wynne-Griffith ’17 (center) and Charlie Elwes ’19 (right) won bronze medals as members of Great Britain’s team in the same race. Yale’s Olympians competed in five sports and represented ten countries. Also, Yale’s head fencing coach Haibin Wang, himself a two-time Olympic medalist, oversaw the Chinese fencers as president of the China Fencing Association.
