The one-acre Yale Farm, a fifteen-minute walk from central campus, may fit into a corner of Farnam Memorial Gardens, but its roster of programs gives that corner an outsized footprint. Staff, students, and area residents take part throughout the year in dozens of activities organized by the Yale Sustainable Food Program, which runs the Yale Farm. There are harvesting days, a weekly food colloquium with wood-fired pizza, and collaborations with professors interested in food, farming, climate change, and environmental justice. Pictured here are students gathering hops from trellis lines—part of the annual Yale Ale brewing project.
