We’ve long admired the work of our colleagues at the New Journal, the student magazine that has covered Yale and New Haven for 55 years. And we’re not the only ones: the magazine’s September 2021 issue was recently selected as the best student magazine in the country by the Society of Professional Journalists in its 2021 Mark of Excellence Awards. The winning entry was coedited by Alexandra Galloway ’23 and Zachary Groz ’24. It includes features about sex workers organizing in New Haven, a Russian professor at Yale who was once a Nazi propagandist, a budding left-wing group at the Law School, and New Haven residents who prefer sleeping outdoors to shelters.
