Yalies racked up more medals in this summer’s Paris Olympic Games than many entire countries. Nineteen current and former Yale athletes took part in this year’s games—16 rowers, 2 sailors, and a soccer player—representing ten nations. Three of them, rowing for Great Britain in the men’s eight, won gold: Sholto Carnegie ’18, Tom Digby ’20, and Charlie Elwes ’19. Two rowers took silver medals: Maya Meschkuleit ’25 of Canada in the women’s eight and Ollie Wynne-Griffith ’17 of Great Britain in the men’s coxless pair. Winning bronze were sailor Ian Barrows ’17, competing in men’s skiff for the USA, and three more rowers: Andrin Gulich ’22, Switzerland, men’s coxless pair; Daire Lynch ’22, Ireland, men’s double scull; and Nick Rusher ’23, USA, men’s eight.
