Scene on Campus

Greener greens

The newly restored Yale golf course.

The storied Yale golf course is again open for business. Three years after a donor-funded restoration project teed off, the course—located about four miles west of the campus—reopens this spring, just in time for its centennial celebration. “The green features didn’t change. They had just gotten smaller, scaled back due to lack of proper agronomics,” says Peter Palacios Jr., golf course general manager. During the restoration, celebrated features of the course, such as the contours of the bunkers at the second hole, pictured here, were returned to their original “design intent.” Other aspects of the project: a tree management plan and increased biodiversity on and around the site.

All golfers are welcome, but registering online in advance is strongly recommended. (Tee times open fourteen days in advance for Yale affiliates and ten days in advance for everyone else.)
