Kenelm W. Philip was born on November 6, 1931 and passed away on March 13, 2014. Kenelm lived in Fairbanks, Alaska, where he established the Alaska Lepidoptera Survey.

A tribute was posted by the Alaska Entomological Society on March 17, 2014.
