ObituariesIn Remembrance: Carl B. Staplin ’61MusM Died on July 12 2014Carl B. Staplin passed away July 12, 2014, in Des Moines, Iowa. He was professor emeritus of organ and church music and chair of the keyboard music department at Drake University in Des Moines. He also was minister of music and organist emeritus at First Christian Church in Des Moines. Staplin was also a composer of choral works and an author, having written a textbook on the history of sacred music. In addition, he is credited with discovering a previously misattributed manuscript composed by J. S. Bach. A full obituary was published in the Des Moines Register on July 18, 2014. |
