Originally from Newport Beach, CA, he spent his undergraduate years at the University of California at Berkeley before earning his MFA in directing at the Yale School of Drama. He is best known for his work as Associate Artistic Director at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. Under Mr. Rucker's direction, the film version of Charles Busch's Die, Mommy, Die! received a special jury prize at Sundance in 2003.
