Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Mr. Marshman attended Philips Academy, Andover and Western Reserve Academy before graduating from Yale College in 1945. He enjoyed a long and successful career as a writer and editor at various publications, such as Life and Time. In 1950, Mr. Marshman, alongside Charles Brackett and Billy Wilder, won an Academy Award for Original Story and Screenplay for their film, "Sunset Boulevard."
