In Remembrance: Elwyn LaVerne Simons Died on March 6 2016

Elwyn LaVerne Simons, a scientist with interest and expertise in geology, paleontology, and anthropology, died March 6, 2016, in Peoria, Arizona.  He was 85. At Yale during the 1960s and ’70s, he was a faculty member in the Department of Geology and curator of vertebrate paleontology at the Peabody Museum. He has been called the father of modern primate paleontology for his discoveries of some of the earliest human forebears.
