In Remembrance: Forrest David Laidley ’66 Died on October 3 2016

Forrest David Laidley, age 72, unexpectedly passed away October 3, 2016. David was born in Glenview, Illinois, on May 14, 1944. He graduated from Yale University in 1966 as captain of the football team, and went on to be captain of the Chicago Lions Rugby Club 1968–1970. He later obtained a juris doctorate of law from DePaul University. David served as general counsel of the Archdiocese of Chicago under Cardinal Joseph Bernardin. Afterwards, he served as a private attorney.

David was most proud to be called husband, father, and grandfather. He was affectionately known as "Pops" to his grandchildren. David was beloved for his profound faith, devotion to his family and friends, and his unconditional love for others. His kindness, humility, and optimism were eternal hallmarks of life well lived.

Legacies are born of love, and he had none greater than his wife of 45 years, Diane; daughter Mary Irene (Roland) Sachs of Libertyville, Illinois; daughter Jeanne (Steven) Whirry of Chicago, Illinois; son Michael (Kathryn) Laidley of Mundelein, Illinois; daughter Anne (Craig) Sondalle of Mundelein, Illinois; son Luke (Lauren) Laidley of Chicago, Illinois; daughter Maura (Brandon) Ziemann of Mundelein, Illinois; and seven grandchildren: Kayla Sachs, Jack Sachs, Will Sachs, Graham Sondalle, Molly Laidley, Lucas Laidley, and baby Ziemann due Febuary 2017.
