ObituariesIn Remembrance: George H. Anderson ’49 Died on April 1 2017George Harold Anderson, age 90, of Fairfield, Connecticut, died on April 1, 2017. He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to the late C. Harold Anderson and Ruth E. Anderson, and had been married for 63 years to the late Ann Bradley Anderson. Mr. Anderson graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School, served in the US Navy during World War II, and graduated from Yale University in the Class of 1949. Upon graduation, he joined the Bullard Company (White Consolidated Industries) and served for 42 years in various management positions in Bridgeport, Connecticut; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Rockford, Illinois. Mr. Anderson also taught at Bridgeport Engineering Institute. Active at First Church Congregational in Fairfield, where he was a deacon emeritus, Mr. Anderson served as moderator and was honored in 2005 for his many years of service to the church. Mr. Anderson also served as chairman of the board of managers of the Fairfield Branch YMCA; president of the Bridgeport chapter of the Society for Advancement of Management; and on the boards of the Kiwanis Club of Fairfield, the Fairfield Historical Society, the Scandinavian Club, the Black Rock Yacht Club, AARP Chapter 1861, and the Fanny Crosby Home. He was a member of the Black Rock Yacht Club, the Fayerweather Yacht Club, the National Association of Accountants, and the American Society of Tool and Manufacturing Engineers. Mr. Anderson was a true gentleman and a well-respected and admired man of great integrity. He was also a big sports fan, especially Ivy League sports, and loved big band–era music. Mr. Anderson is survived by his son Bradford Anderson and wife Deborah of East Sandwich, Massachusetts; son Roy Anderson of Boston; and daughter Nancy Anderson Tyler and husband Tom of Darien, Connecticut; and granddaughter Lindsay Tyler of New York, New York. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. —Submitted by the family.
