In Remembrance: John Richard Knecht ’46MA Died on August 9 2017

John Richard Knecht was born in 1920 in Indiana, and earned his M.A. from Yale in 1946 having been ordained the year before. As part of his mission work, he taught history and sociology at Lingnan University, China, until 1947. Returning to the states, Rev. Knecht had a long career as a pastor, retiring in 1985. A keen fan of baseball, he founded Lingnan University's first baseball team during his time there, and continued to visit China throughout his life. He passed away peacefully on August 9, 2017, in North Manchester, Indiana.
