In Remembrance: Lawrence G. Sucsy ’56E Died on June 29 2018

Larry Sucsy, distinguished investment banker, peacefully passed away on June 29 at the age of 82.

A native of West Nyack, New York, Larry entered Yale University at the age of 16 and graduated with a BE in electrical engineering. He served as an officer in the US Navy for four years with duty stations in Iceland, Texas, and California. Larry graduated from Harvard Business School with the school’s highest honors, a Baker scholar. 

His business career began in Chicago when he joined Booz, Allen & Hamilton Applied Research. Illinois governor Richard B. Ogilvie appointed Larry to the board of the Chicago Transit Authority for an eight-year term. He worked on plans leading to the formation of the Regional Transit Authority. He was the youngest appointee on record. 

In 1970, Larry founded and was named president of Sucsy, Fischer & Co. Inc. a middle-market investment banking firm. He also was cofounder and a registered principal of SF Investments, Inc. a registered broker/dealer. He managed the firm for 48 years and loved his work. He is remembered for his brilliant mind, work ethic, gentle manner, and kindness. 

He loved hiking, sailing, and raced BMW ’02 series with the Midwest Council Sports Car Club.

He is survived by Rowena Boysen, his daughters Sherri (William) and Sandi (Carl), his brother Len and his wife Sue, and three grandchildren.

A remembrance of his life will be celebrated in the future by his family and business associates who will miss his energy and never-ending support.
