He had worked as a high school teacher and desktop publisher, but his passion for operatic singing led him to perform in concerts and operas in the New York area. The Yale Gay and Lesbian Alumni/ae Association (Yale GALA), of which Leuze was a member, posted a tribute on their website.

Bob, Sara (his deceased wife) and I were in group therapy together with Henry Elkin for a number of years in the 1960's and became good friends. Sara herself became a therapist. Bob sang a song of his choice at my wedding in 1981. I admired him for many reasons.
