In Remembrance: Edward F. Zigler Died on February 7 2019

Edward F. Zigler, a pioneer in the application of developmental psychology to social policy and one of the original architects of the federal Head Start program, died in his sleep on February 7, 2019, at his home in North Haven, Connecticut. He was 88. 

Zigler joined the Yale faculty as assistant professor of psychology in 1959, and throughout his career produced groundbreaking work in various fields of developmental and social psychology, publishing more than 800 scholarly articles and 43 books and monographs. He was named a Sterling professor in 1976. During this time he also served as advisor on child and family policy to every White House administration from Presidents Johnson through Obama.
