He interrupted his Yale education to fight in WWII about the Fleet Minesweeper USS Raven, later returning to Yale to graduate in 1948. After a successful career in the machine tool industry, "Mac" and his wife Doris opened The Mountain School, a private secondary institution in Vermont.
