In Remembrance: Kristaps J. Keggi ’55, ’59MD Died on July 4 2023

Kristaps Juris Keggi, a pioneering orthopedic surgeon and professor emeritus at Yale School of Medicine, died on July 4, 2023, at the age of 88. 

A postwar immigrant from Latvia, Keggi served as chief of surgery at a MASH unit in Vietnam in 1965–66. He pursued clinical practice for the next 40 years, while also teaching at Yale Med School. He is credited with pioneering the anterior approach to hip replacement surgery.
