In Remembrance: Michael L. McIver ’67 Died on July 24 2026

Michael Laird McIver, class of 1967, passed away in Houston, Texas, on July 24, 2026. He was born on July 26, 1945, and loved nature, music, art, athletics, and his family.

After successfully completing his education at Hotchkiss, Michael continued his education at Yale University where he majored in Russian language and literature. One of his favorite professors was art educator Vincent Scully. 

Following graduation, Michael moved to Big Sur, California, where he was associated with the Esalen Institute. This is where he met Dr. Ida P. Rolf, founder of Rolfing Structural Integration. After training at the Rolf Institute in Boulder, Colorado, Michael moved to Amsterdam for several years, and then to Houston, Texas, where his career flourished. He had a private Rolfing practice in Houston for over 50 years.

Michael is survived by his wife, Ariana Vincent, an educator and author; his sisters, Chris LeBeau and Sara English; two children; and his beloved cousin, Missy McIver.
He loved his time at Yale. 

In addition to being a skilled Rolfer, Michael was a very talented musician who sang beautifully and created a remarkable CD, Sweet Ariana, honoring his wife, Ariana Vincent. He was a multi-instrumentalist who played Martin guitars, autoharp, violin, ukulele, and the symphonic gong.

He loved the fact that Houston is close to Galveston, Texas, where he and his family spent many happy hours walking on the beach and flying kites.

Michael always had a 1,000 watt smile and a kind word for everyone.
