In Remembrance: Arthur A. Pava ’51MD Died on September 2 2013

Arthur Pava, 94, of Longmeadow, Massachusetts, passed away at home peaceully on September 2, 2013. Arthur earned a doctorate in medical entomology from Cornell University. While at Cornell, he enlisted in the army for World War II and, because he was fluent in several languages already, was accepted into the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the predecessor to the CIA. After the war, he attended Yale Medical School, interned at the Los Angeles County Medical Center, enjoyed additional training at the Columbian Neurological Institute in New York, and returned to Springfield in 1956 as only the second neurosurgeon in the area.
