ObituariesIn Remembrance: Richard Warch ’64BD, ’68PhD Died on September 14 2013Richard "Rik" Warch, 74, former president of Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, died on September 14, 2013. He taught history and American studies for nine years at Yale, where he also directed the National Humanities Institute and worked as associate dean of Yale College and director of the Visiting Faculty Program. In 1979, Warch became Lawrence University's 14th president. His 25-year presidency is the second longest in the university's history. In 1987, he was recognized as one of the country's top 100 college presidents in the Exxon Education Foundation-funded study, "The Effective College President."
