In Remembrance: Gustav Ranis ’56PhD Died on October 15 2013

Gustav Ranis, the Frank Altschul Professor Emeritus of International Economics at Yale, died October 15, 2013, at age 83. He was a world-renowned expert in development economics, with more than 20 books and 300 articles to his credit.  At Yale he had been the director of the Yale Center for International and Area Studies (now the Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center) and of the Economic Growth Center.

An obituary appeared in the New Haven Register on October 16, 2013, and Yale University posted a memorial tribute to him, also on October 16.
